Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday ~ SMASH!

Oh fellow WOYWWers. I was so sad last week when I missed out on the PIF. I didn't get a chance to finish mine because the whole house was sick with a nasty stomach bug, even the lil guy got sick. It was a real bummer. With that said, I can't wait to see what everyone made and exchanged! Kudos and Happy late Anniversary to the lovely Mz. Dunnit. Please be sure to drop by and see what all this fuss is about, remember to get your snoop on!

This week I am working on making a Smash book. Last week I had no idea what a Smash book was. Then a friend shared a link on facebook and I was hooked! Problem is, it is a newer product and is sold out everywhere! Well, I wanted one for my trip next week (more on that later) so I decided to make my own. First you need to check out my new paper trimmer! Holy moly! I got it at Costco, it has a sliding blade which you can interchange the blades with border blades and a super chopper blade (on the right), it also has a bunch of helpful measurements, AND it separates to make the sliding blade portable! Oh yes. :) PS. Both blades lock into place, which is awesome since I have a little one roaming around the craft area sometimes.

Ok. First step was going through my HUGE stash of paper. I went with a polka-dot themed book, since they are my fav! I cut all the papers to 7.25 x9.75. Some of the papers were double sided and some were not so the next step I rearranged the papers so the colors flowed and glued some together or put in a neutral page. It turned out awesome. Once I bind the book I will do a video to show you.

Next I cut the chipboard cover 7.75 x 10.25 (this is the size of the Smash books for sale) with my T!m Holtz super scissors. Now I am decorating potential covers. I wanted to keep it flat since this book is suppose to travel with you (I don't want embellishments falling off), so I am stamping and putting some glitz on to see which I like best.

Once this is done, I am going to bind it using the Cinch. I'll post a pic when I finish it or a video of the whole thing. :)

Next Wednesday I'll be on a plane heading for Portland, Oregon! I can't wait! I'm going to see my best friend for a few days, then I'm off to the coast for a crafty retreat in Gearhart, Oregon. Oh yea! The lodge we are staying at is on the beach and we will be painting, photographing and creating magic. I am so excited.
Happy Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by.

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

Week 103! Only one more week til the big 2 yr anni over at Mrz. Dunnit's brain child and the PIF. Now one may ask, have I started my PIF yet? Nope. EEK! I will, I swear I will! After a bit of organizing, my mojo hit so I actually scrapbooked a few pages! Wow, I know right! Not a card, not a frame, not a letter (oh wait I did that too), but an actual PAGE! In fact, every time I took a picture of my desk (thinking I wouldn't finish what I was working on), I had the time and the mojo to complete all my WIPs. I know, it's staggering info. So this week I'll share with you a little of this and a little of that. :) LO's, organizing and my lil girls desk.

First up is Audrey's desk. She is really into colored pencils right now and pretending to cut paper like her Momma does! So cute.

Now, here is one side of my craft room. I moved all the white shelves so they are together and painted some of those spice shelves from IKEA white and hung them. Looks very nice together. The "embellishment center" is more a ribbon center now. heeehee. And the buttons look lovely in the jars. The other jars are all my random metal letters and embellishments.

This is the first layout, "Hello Beautiful" 12x12. Audrey looks absolutely beautiful in this photo. It was taken at a local park by a friend of mine. I had a lot of fun making this just a "pretty" LO. Supplies include: Paper ~ My Minds Eye, Pearls, Flower trim ~ Plum, Bazzill Buttons ~ Modern Petunia, Distress Ink ~ Milled Lavender, Stamps from Technique Tuesday ~ Kids are cool by Ali Edwards.

My second layout, "The Perfect Mix" is 8 1/2 x 11. This started as a 12 x 12 but just fit better this way. I love this photo of Audrey playing in the dirt while wearing the pink dress she picked out earlier that day. Supplies include: Paper ~ K & Company, lace heart cardstock, ribbon, tags with Distress Ink Milled Lavender, Victorian Velvet and Walnut Stain, stamps from Technique Tuesday ~ Real Life and Kids are Cool both by Ali Edwards.

Thanks for stopping by! Please leave a comment, I do love them...or even click on "follow", sometimes it's ok to be a follower! I will try to visit as many peeps as I can throughout the day.
Much love,
Chrissy

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

It is WOYWW week 102! Only 2 more weeks til the 2 yr anniversary and the PIF. If you don't know what I'm talking about, please check out the founder of it all, Julia. I've been a bit distracted these days and I realized that I've only been blogging on Wednesdays, so I am thankful for Mrz Dunnit for keeping motivated for at least one day a week. Life seems to be in super fast forward since the little guy arrived over 4 months ago! Thanks to all who commented last week, as always I will try to make it to as many blogs as I can!

To all my UK peeps, I'm curious what time of year would be good to visit and where is lil kid friendly? We want to try to take a trip next year and I would love some insider info!

So...here is my messy desk. Those shelves for the jars are painted and now I see that they would also make a nice home for all my T!m Holtz goodies, so I will be going back to IKEA soon to buy more.

Here are a few layouts, finally completed for the boy. He is super cute.

These are a few frames from IKEA that I'm painting to go in my lil girls room.

And finally, here is the lil guy who pushed fast forward on time, hanging in the craft room with me. :)

Hope you enjoy the snoop today!

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

It's that time again....time to get your snoop on thanks to Julia over at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/. Don't feel guilty, everyone is doing it! Thank you to everyone who stopped by last week and left me a lovely comment. I've been trying to make it to more and more blogs every week as long as I don't have kids melting down. ;)

I can't show you my first desk, as it has a work in progress for an upcoming ATC swap! So here is desk number two. I unpacked Mr. Vagabond and used him this week which was fun! Love that I can cut grunge board ~ super cool. The IKEA spice jars now have buttons in them since the flowers wouldn't fit. Wow, let me tell you, I didn't realize I had so many as to fill all the jars. Now that they are separated by color I will hopefully use them more.

These are the shelves to hold the new button jars. They come in natural wood, so I painted them a dark brown to match my desks. Can't wait to hang these babies up on the weekend!

More projects for my lil girls room. I found these awesome felt place mats at Bed Bath and Beyond and they were only $1! To spruce them up a bit, I added some stickles. They will be a boarder for one of her walls. She especially loves the butterflies!

Thanks for stopping by!
Much love,
Chrissy

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

Well. I didn't really do much crafting this weekend. Instead I got lost in the craft room, making more messes while trying to organize. lol. Oh well. Part of the reason for starting more reorg was I went to IKEA and bought some of those lovely spice jars I've been seeing on many blogs. I wanted to put my flowers in them but some are too big....I might have to rethink that and use them for something else.

What I did do was add to my daughter's room. I framed some of her recent art work, including a finger painting, snatched white cardstock with crayon on it (I wasn't watching her close enough), and a watercolor painting. My hubby and brother in law put up some shelving, that probably isn't suppose to be what I'm using it for but it looks super cute! We also put up a few photos in pink frames.

Make sure you pop over to Julia and get your peep on!

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

Seriously. Where is the time going? I can't believe it is Wednesday already and it is almost May! This year is turning into a blur for me. I need it to slow down a little! (yeah, like that is gonna happen!)

Here we meet again, through the lovely Julia over at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/. Weekly inspiration and spy time! Thanks to all who visited me last week! I love getting comments, so please drop me a line if you have the time. I tried to visit as many blogs as I could and comment when I could (no children screaming). :)

This week I am working on finishing some layouts from classes at CKC. They are a little cookie cutter but I'm going to add some flair to them before they are all done. On my first desk is my daughter's first b-day! (yes, I am a few b-days behind)

On my second desk are a few layouts with my baby boy and one awaiting pics of my daughter. Isn't he just handsome!

I broke out my T!m Holtz stuff this weekend and made a lil something for my daughter's room. This small shadow box frame is from IKEA (only $5)! I started with white cardstock. I put some Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick, Dusty Concord, and Shattered Shutters) on my craft mat and spritzed with water, then rubbed my paper on the inky goodness. I used my ink blending tool to add some color to the white areas. Then I stamped my Suzi Blu "You are loved" stamp by Unity Stamp Co. on a separate piece of white cardstock and I cut her and the sentiment out. Finished her up with a little stickle action. Then I ran my white rose ribbon over my Distress Ink pads for a similar look to the background. When she saw this, she said "oooooo WOW" and tried to help hang it on her wall. :)

This is the card I made for my mom for Mother's Day, using nestabilities die and some simple $1 stamps.

Here is the gothic birthday card I made for my niece. I love the stampotique images, they are super awesome!

Thank you for stopping by! Don't forget to get your snoop on, I mean inspiration on over at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/.

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

I can't believe it's Wednesday already! :D FAB. I look forward to Wednesday since that means the work week for the hubby is half over and it's "What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday"! Every week, Julia over at Stamping Ground, has the option to link up your blog and share your work space. It is super fun to get a peek into the world of other crafty folks...you should check it out.

This weekend I started reorganizing my space. I got a little done but with CKC Mesa, Saturday was a wash. But I did get to shop! LOL. And what did I get you ask? Well of course more PAPER. hahahahaha Also some lil embellishments and some Tim Holtz accessories for the newVagabond. I have to open this bad boy this weekend. :) While I do have a Cricut, I'm thinking of selling it since I think the Vagabond suits me better ~ too much thinking with the Cricut, plus I like the idea of cutting thicker substances.

So I moved my shelves to a different wall so I could put both of my work tables/desks together to create one super long work space. Oh yes. ;) I also put most of my ribbon back in it's home, so take a gander at that! The art work on the wall is from ORA, she is amazing. I have more work I need to hang of hers.

Desk space #1, working on some cards. I noticed I'm doing a lot more cards these days.

Close up, my mom's b-day card and mothers day card finished. The beginning of a gothic b-day card for my niece.

Desk #2. This is where the stuff is I need to sort and put away, also future projects waiting for me!

And for fun, here is my daughter's workdesk. She likes to create with me. She is very into Toy Story and who doesn't love to finger paint!

Thanks for visiting! Hope you have a crafty day!

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

Oh Wednesday, I'm glad you are here, since that means Friday is just around the corner. Since I've received many comments on my ribbon stash on my desk, I thought I'd share a picture of the rest of the ribbon stash. HEEEHEEE. I do have a lot. The ribbon on my desk is still there, awaiting me to finish my December Daily book. The end of my pregnancy derailed that project and I've had so many other things I've wanted to make, that it is on the back burner at this point.

I do confess that my weakness is ribbon and pattern paper...I have serious issues resisting it! :) There is a store in AZ called Scrapbook ETC and it has a whole room full of paper and an entire wall dedicated to ribbon. When I walked in there, I about died and went to heaven. I could spend a fortune there. You definitely have to have a plan when you go there or else the receipt could get quite large.

So here is my messy messy area. I will be cleaning it and reorganizing it in the coming weeks ~ look for a makeover! :)

Take care and enjoy the day. Be sure to check out other creative spaces at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/.

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday

It's what? WEDNESDAY??? Wow. Where did the week go! Oh yes, I know ~ the whole house is sick again, that's where it went. Everyone is telling me this is normal but that doesn't make it any easier. My lil girl got sick again from play school and now the whole house is sick, including the poor boy. I'm not sure what to do, stick it out with play school or cancel it for a few months til my boy can be better and stay better.

Anyway....I somehow have been crafting. Finishing up some projects for the grandparents and some cards including birthdays, thank you, and thinking of you. Here is my desk today ~ still messy and ultra crafty.

Check out http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ for more desk inspiration.
Thanks for checking it out!
