OLW Blog Hop!

Hello Fellow OLW peeps! This post will be short today as I am writing it the night before the blog hop and I am super tired. My lil boy, who is soon to be 8 months old is still not sleeping through the night and now is teething to boot. He and his soon to be 3 year old sister are totally keeping me ACTIVE which is my word for the year. I feel like I am go go going, yet have no energy!

This month I finished July’s prompt of “make a playlist”. I knew from prior searches that I wasn’t going to find my actual word in a song. (I tried in the first month of the class) So I chose songs that really resonate with me right now. The artists are all very different as well as the songs....but it somehow works. :)

My playlist is….

“Here We Go” by the Fresh Beat Band

“The Kill” by 30 Seconds to Mars

“Knuckle Down” by Ani Difranco

“Within a Mile of Home” by Flogging Molly

“Closer to the Edge” by 30 Seconds to Mars

“Breathe Me” by Sia

“True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper

“Til We Die” by Slipknot

“32 Flavors” by Ani Difranco

When I was putting this together, I ran out of “s” in a certain color…hence missing an “s” on “bliss”. Lol I hope you and your word are growing together this year.

Lynn is next on the hop! If you get lost along the way, here is a list!

One Little Word Blog Hop (August 1st)

Hello fellow OLW peeps! It has been a few months since I’ve played along on the hop. I fell a bit behind on the prompts but I did keep up with my word ~ ACTIVE. We have been making changes around the house which include eating healthier and getting ACTIVE. Even when we are super tired because our 6 month old is still not sleeping through the night, we are making the attempts to do things. ACTIVE isn’t only about eating and exercise for me, it encompasses all things. I am being more ACTIVE with my creativity and reading more, which is really nourishing me. My husband and I are going out on more date nights and we are also talking about future plans to move out of Arizona to a place where we both will be happy. All this ACTIVITY is amazing. These are a few photos of how my book is coming along. I really enjoyed June’s prompt! I’m still working on July’s but music is a joy for me so it will be done soon.

I hope your word is still thriving in your life. If you are here randomly please check out Ali’s class at Big Picture Classes and you are more than welcome to come along on our hop. Thank you Margie for organizing this. Check out the list below for more inspiration. Jan is next on the hop!

OLW Blog Hop!

Hello May! I can't believe how the time is flying this year. It's time for another One Little Word Blog Hop! The hop goes live 8am Pacific Time and the full list is at the bottom of this post. If you are wondering what I'm talking about, check out all the fuss here. Thanks to Margie for arranging the Hop!

I hope you are still keeping your word in your mind and heart. As a refresher, my word is ACTIVE. This month...well, this year, has been nothing but ACTIVE. So ACTIVE, I didn't get to finish my page! :) Since I filled the space that was intended for half our prompt this month, I will be making an 8 1/2 by 11 page. I have the work in progress below. I printed the prompt in white cardstock and used Distress Aged Mahogony to ink it up. The picture is one of the only recent ones of myself and it is one of my favorites. It was taken on my Anniversary, with my favorite shades, and my favorite hair do.

The letter to myself will be about how I am currently uncomfortable in my body and really hate to be in pictures....and my hopes for the future will be that I stay with my ACTIVE plan and continue to lose weight so I can live a better life with my family. I've always had to be mindful of my weight, it's in my genes to be overweight. I've slowly been putting on weight and having my second baby has pushed me way too far out of my comfort zone.

I hope you all are doing well and feel free to check out my past posts by clicking on the left on any OLW title. Thanks for stopping by! Jen is up next at www.byjen.com.

OLW Blog Hop!

Welcome to the One Little Word Blog Hop! All participants should be up and running by 8am Pacific time, April 1st. If you get lost along the way, check out the list of blogs at the bottom of the post.

The prompt for March was all about taking action with your word. My word is ACTIVE and I have definitely been taking action! Things have been nothing but ACTIVE around here since my son was born. We are finally setting into a groove and we have found solutions to his belly and sleeping issues. (I love soy formula and the miracle blanket!)

This is what my page looks like while folded and secured with the string. I added a few more things so that both front and back of each pocket is filled.

This is the front unfolded. I really love my "A" collage. I documented my/our family's experience with enrolling our daughter in gym/play class. It is going really well. She loves it. She loves being around other kids, she loves running and climbing, she loves everything about it ~ except when it is time to go! My husband and I take turns going with her, this way she has quality time with the both of us. This time is all about her and she deserves that. She has been such a great big sister and hasn't had any jealousy issues with the baby. Her energy level has increased though, so this is much needed.

I wasn't too worried about filling in the calendar, especially since I made all of this yesterday! ;) I have been active this month with many things that didn't really need to go on the calendar. For instance, I've been blogging and crafting more, which has been good for my sanity. I'm trying to make better eating decisions by buying healthier foods to snack on. Also, I have been taking Audrey to the play gym and that is a work out! Trying to keep up with a toddler is hard! :)

Enlargement #1. I really love the paint pen on the photo idea that Ali did and I plan to keep using it. This is my baby boy ~ 2 months old. He has me going morning, noon, and night. Love that sweet face!

Enlargement #2. This is the first gym we visited. It was geared more towards actual gymnastics. The reasons we didn't go with this gym was that the play time was a fraction of what the other offered and it was more expensive. Audrey saw a boy doing this and went right for it. FEARLESS. Love that girl!

I hope you are keeping up with your One Little Word and that you find inspiration along the hop today! Jill is next on the hop.

OLW Blog Hop!

Welcome to the second "One Little Word" Blog Hop! Everyone goes "live" at 8am Pacific Time March 1st. As a refresher, my word for 2011 is ACTIVE. Life has been nothing but ACTIVE the last two months, since the arrival of my son on 1-7-11. We have definitely had some issues and I haven't been able to devote much time to this project until recently. My poor lil boy seems to be a bit colicky and we've switched formulas 3x. I think we are on the right track now with Soy formula and a "moby wrap".

I am excited though, because I am keeping up with my word where progress is concerned. My goal for this year is to be more ACTIVE all around. This means with my kids, with my husband and with myself. I want to get healthier (lose weight) so I can be ACTIVE with my kids at the park or even around the house. Since having my baby, I have lost 25 pounds! I am on the right track! My husband and I have also been trying to go out and do more things (which is nice). And I have been doing little things for myself, like getting a hair cut or doing my make-up more, which has lifted my spirits. It is the simple things really! :)

My photos reflect the items listed above. I enlarged a photo of my daughter running at the park and journaled on it with a Sharpie White Paint Pen from Michaels. With my 9 photos, I have done a lil journaling on the back.

I hope you enjoy your day and the OLW Blog Hop! Visit Lee next at http://linarstudio.typepad.com/embracelife

One Little Word ~ January

This is some of my journaling for January~ printed on white cardstock, edge punched, and adhered to polka dot paper with a few flowers to perk it up.

Today is the start of February and our assignment is to explore our words through photos, so the next post will have lots of photos relating to my word, ACTIVE.
I hope you are still motivated with your word!

One Little Word ~ January

This is my self portrait for January for the "Beginnings" page for One Little Word with Ali Edwards. I thought it was appropriate for a self portrait since the only thing I can think of or feel right now is super pregnant! Less than a week to go til we get to meet the little boy in my belly. I am very excited!

I hope the new year is finding you well and motivated!

One Little Word ~ January

This is my first page for "One Little Word". The quotation I found to go with my word is from Les Brown, "We must look for ways to be an active force in our own lives. We must take charge of our own destinies, design a life of substance and truly begin to live our dreams."

Here is to being ACTIVE in 2011.

One Little Word ~ Ali Edwards!

What are you wanting to change in this New Year? I really love Ali's idea of not making a resolution list, rather choosing a word to guide you and motivate you throughout the year. I'm so excited for this class done with Ali Edwards at bigpictureclasses.com. My word for 2011 is ACTIVE! I am looking forward to becoming more active after this pregnancy is over. I will have a 2yr old and a newborn, needless to say things will be more active naturally but I will be making an effort to be more healthy for my family and myself. This is my title page for the project....kind of matches my blog...lol. I will be working on the assignment for January today and hopefully will post another entry.

Happy New Year!

One Little Word ~ Ali Edwards!

If you are a fan of Ali Edwards, then you know she chooses one word for the year that she focuses on. 2010 was the year of "story". 2011 will be the year of "light". Usually she shares her journey with us via her website but she is now offering a class with Big Picture Classes! I am super excited and just signed up! I will share my experience with the class on this blog. Just a few more weeks til the class starts and I'll announce my word 1-1-11.
